Tahhajud is the Key: Success in This World and the Hereafter

My dear brothers and sisters,

Tonight we speak about one of the greatest secrets of the righteous.
One of the greatest acts of worship.
One of the doors to peace, success, strength, and closeness to Allah.

And that is Tahhajud — the night prayer.

Many people today are searching for success.
Success in money.
Success in marriage.
Success in studies.
Success in business.
Success in mental peace.
Success in the Hereafter.

But very few people search for success where the righteous searched for it — in the last third of the night.

Allah عز وجل tells us in the Qur’an:

“And during the night, pray Tahhajud as an extra act of worship for you. Perhaps your Lord will raise you to a praised station.”
— Surah Al-Isra

Notice this carefully:
Allah connects Tahhajud with elevation.

The one who stands before Allah at night, Allah raises them.

Not only in the Hereafter —
but even in this dunya.

The People of Tahhajud are Different

The people who wake up for Tahhajud are not ordinary people.

While the world sleeps,
they stand before the King of kings.

While people are lost in distractions,
they are crying to Allah.

While others chase the dunya,
they are chasing Jannah.

Allah describes them beautifully:

“They used to sleep but little of the night, and before dawn they would seek forgiveness.”
— Surah Adh-Dhariyat

These are special servants.

Not because they are perfect.

But because they chose Allah when nobody was watching.

That is sincerity.

Tahhajud Changes Your Life

Brothers and sisters,

Tahhajud is not just another prayer.

It transforms the heart.

A person may feel broken during the day,
but one sincere Tahhajud can heal them.

A person may feel lost,
but one sincere conversation with Allah at night can guide them.

A person may feel overwhelmed by sins,
but tears in Tahhajud can erase mountains of sins.

The Prophet ﷺ said that during the last third of the night, Allah descends in a manner befitting His Majesty and says:

“Who is calling upon Me so I may answer him? Who is asking Me so I may give him? Who is seeking My forgiveness so I may forgive him?”

Imagine that moment.

The doors of heaven are open.

Allah is asking:
“Who is asking Me?”

And most people are asleep.

Success in This World

Many people think Tahhajud is only for the Hereafter.

No.

Tahhajud brings blessings in this dunya too.

The scholars said:
The one who fixes their relationship with Allah at night, Allah fixes their affairs during the day.

Tahhajud brings:

  • Peace in the heart

  • Barakah in time

  • Strength in iman

  • Protection from sins

  • Clarity in decisions

  • Relief from anxiety

  • Rizq from places you never imagined

Some of the righteous predecessors said:

“We found the sweetness of life in the night prayer.”

And wallahi, this is true.

The dunya can never give the peace that comes from standing alone before Allah in the darkness of the night.

The Prophet ﷺ and Tahhajud

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — whose sins were already forgiven — still stood in prayer at night until his feet became swollen.

Why?

Because Tahhajud was his source of strength.

When the world rejected him,
he stood in Tahhajud.

When he faced hardship,
he stood in Tahhajud.

When he carried the burden of the Ummah,
he stood in Tahhajud.

And if the Prophet ﷺ needed Tahhajud,
then what about us?

We are drowning in distractions.
Drowning in sins.
Drowning in stress and anxiety.

We need Tahhajud more than ever.

Shaytan Hates Tahhajud

One of the reasons Tahhajud is so powerful is because Shaytan hates it.

Shaytan wants you asleep.

He wants you lazy.

He wants you attached to the dunya.

But when you force yourself out of bed for Allah,
you are defeating your nafs and defeating Shaytan.

That is why the beginning is difficult.

But after consistency, it becomes sweetness.

The righteous people used to cry if they missed Tahhajud.

Today we miss Tahhajud every night and feel nothing.

That shows the condition of our hearts.

How to Start Tahhajud

Some people say:
“I want to pray Tahhajud but I can’t wake up.”

Start small.

Do not wait to become perfect.

Here are simple steps:

  • Sleep early

  • Make sincere intention before sleeping

  • Set alarms

  • Ask Allah to wake you up

  • Pray even 2 raka’ahs

  • Be consistent

Even if it is only 5 minutes.

Because Allah loves consistent deeds.

And speak to Allah sincerely.

Cry to Him.

Tell Him your fears.
Tell Him your struggles.
Tell Him your dreams.
Tell Him your sins.

Allah loves to hear your voice.

Tahhajud and the Hereafter

My dear brothers and sisters,

On the Day of Judgment,
people will regret many things.

But among the greatest regrets will be wasted nights.

The nights we spent scrolling.
The nights we spent in entertainment.
The nights we spent in sin.

Imagine if even a small portion of those nights were spent with Allah.

Tahhajud is an investment for eternity.

Every sajdah raises your rank.

Every tear is recorded.

Every whisper is heard by Allah.

And the people of Tahhajud will shine on the Day of Judgment.

Final Reminder

Brothers and sisters,

The difference between ordinary believers and extraordinary believers is often what they do when everyone else is asleep.

Tahhajud is the secret weapon of the righteous.

If you want closeness to Allah — pray Tahhajud.
If you want your duas answered — pray Tahhajud.
If you want peace in your heart — pray Tahhajud.
If you want success in this world and the Hereafter — pray Tahhajud.

Do not leave tonight without making the intention to stand before Allah.

Even if only for two raka’ahs.

Because perhaps one sincere Tahhajud may change your entire life.

May Allah make us among the people of the night prayer.
May Allah forgive our sins.
May Allah grant us success in this dunya and the Hereafter.
May Allah allow our hearts to become attached to Tahhajud.

Ameen.
